Rob Brassington
Managing Director, Project Manager | BSc (Hons) | DipSurv | MRICS | SMSTS qualifiedRob has been a part of the M J Rees team for over three decades. He completed his postgraduate diploma in surveying in 1988 and became an associate of RICS in 1996. In 2012 he took on a director role, before being appointed Managing Director in 2017 – overseeing the day-to-day running of the business and smooth delivery of projects.
He’s been involved in nearly all of our most prestigious projects, including the pedestrianisation of Trafalgar Square, Crossrail, Tideway Holland Park Tunnels, UCL East Tunnels, Gainsborough Hotel and The Newport Transporter Bridge. Rob’s expert technical knowledge enables M J Rees to offer innovative solutions to clients across all markets. -
Alan Thunhurst
Consultant, Expert Witness | FRICSAlan began training as a land surveyor in 1965 and started his career in commercial land surveying practices oversees and in the UK. He joined M J Rees in 1979, becoming a director in 1981 and Managing Director in 1996. Having been elected a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1988, Alan has been a member of various RICS Practice Panels and currently acts as an examiner, assessor and member of the professional interview panel for the Geomatics Professional Group.
His experience covers a wide range of land surveying, mapping and measurement projects, including the preparation of reports and court appearances as an expert witness in boundary and measurement disputes. Alan is also a member of the RICS Dispute Resolution Professional Group. -
Sarah Hurley
Business Development Manager, Commercial Lead | SMSTS qualified | BSc (Hons)Sarah joined M J Rees in 2006 as a trainee land surveyor and is a graduate of the TSA introduction to surveying course. Working her way up to Senior Surveyor position, she became Business Development Manager in 2013. She has worked on some of our most high-profile projects including Tideway, the O2 Skywalk and the 2012 London Olympics.
Sarah’s focus is on seeking out new opportunities whilst maintaining excellent client relationships. She uses the knowledge and skills gained during her work as a land surveyor to prepare detailed tender submissions and quotations. She is also involved in project management and overseeing the smooth running of day-to-day business and plays a key role in helping to develop new business strategies. Sarah also oversees marketing, brand development and our website. -
Martin Summers
Senior Land Surveyor, Technical Lead | BSc (Hons) | SSSTS qualifiedMartin graduated from the University of East London (formerly North East London Polytechnic) in 1984 with a BSc in Surveying and Mapping Sciences. He joined M J Rees in 1984 as a surveyor and has worked on projects including Pendennis Castle, Bristol Old Vic and London’s Victorian pumping stations (Greenwich, Abbey Mills and Lots Road).
Martin has a wealth of experience in topographical, utility, engineering, building, monitoring and line and level survey. He is responsible for the implementation of our extensive QA systems and has led the successful delivery of our recent BIM projects. -
William Griffith
Senior Land Surveyor, CAD Lead | BSc (Hons) | TCInstCESWill joined M J Rees in 2012 as a trainee surveyor. He has a wide range of experience in land surveying including topographical, monitoring, measured building and utility surveys. He is highly skilled in CAD and Revit and is tasked with overseeing CAD upgrades and maintaining an efficient processing workflow.
His surveying highlights include Greenwich Power Station, Tideway River Wall monitoring and Cheddar Reservoir. Will is a graduate of TSA’s Introduction to Surveying and TSA approved Utility Surveyor Training Course. -
Kevin MacKenzie
Senior Land Surveyor – Thames Water Liaison | IOSH – Managing safelyKevin started his career in surveying in 1983. He joined Thames Water in 1989 and graduated from the University of East London (then the Polytechnic of East London) with a Higher National Certificate in Land Surveying in 1991. Kevin later became Land Survey Group Manager.
He joined M J Rees in Jan 2020 as a Senior Land Surveyor, supporting the arrangement of permits and supervising our Thames Water survey work in London. His varied experience includes topographical, confined space, monitoring and deformation surveys.
